How long have you been playing guitar?

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years.

Professional Experience:

I have played nearly every style of guitar for the last 25 years in various projects throughout my career.

Accomplishments:

EDUCATION

Master of Music, Classical Guitar Performance, University of North Texas, 1991.

Minor – Music Composition.

Bachelor of Music, Jazz Guitar Performance, University of North Texas, 1987.

Minor – Music Theory. 

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE:                                          

·                     Arranged lesson schedules for 10-15 students per semester, including management of administrative add/drop records.

·                     Constructed lesson plans for university classes and private students.                     

·                     Devised grading criteria and administered classroom testing.

·                     Set goals and objectives in individual and classroom instruction at all undergraduate levels.

·                     Evaluated skills and capabilities of private students and adapted methods for each.           

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Private Studio

1994- Present;  Taught guitar and theory to over 120 students of ages 7 through adult in rock/pop, jazz, classical, and folk/bluegrass styles.

Brookhaven College

August 2009 – December 2010, August 2013 – Present;  Taught Applied Guitar as adjunct instructor.

Tarrant County College Southeast

Spring 2005 – May 2012;  Taught applied guitar, Beginning Guitar, Music Appreciation and Music Reading classes as adjunct instructor.

El Centro College

August 2006 – December 2006; Taught Applied Guitar and Jazz Ensemble as adjunct instructor.

Tarrant County College Northwest

Spring 1995 – Spring 1997;  Taught Applied Guitar at beginner through intermediate levels as adjunct instructor. Chose repertoire and prepared each student for semester end recitals.

University of North Texas

Fall 1988 – Spring 1991;  Taught over 90 students in undergraduate guitar classes and private lessons as Graduate Teaching Fellow.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Performance

Played solo classical guitar and as a member of several rock and jazz ensembles at regular club, cafe and corporate/society engagements in Southwest region as well as single appearances in New York and Los Angeles.

Studio

Logged over 250 hours in 12 recording and mastering facilities as composer/performer/producer through completion of six CD releases.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Fulbright Scholarship Candidate, Fall 1990.

Awarded Graduate Teaching Fellowship, September 1988 – May 1991.
